This Sunday, the curtain also closed on the international youth football tournament with the teams taking titles in the different categories.
UD Benissa, in the U19 division; Jóvenes Promesas of Andalusia, in the U16 division; Minas Tenis Clube of Brazil, in the U14 division; CDE Pinar de Alcorcón (A), in the U12 division; and Rose City Futsal of the United States, in the U10 division, took the final victory in the men's division.
In the women's division, Rui Xang High School of Taiwan, in the U16 division; Torrejón Sala Five Play, in the U14 division; and Yu-59 of Finland, in the U14 division, won their respective Costa Blanca Cup Futsal finals. You can see all the results by clicking HERE.
In this 20th anniversary of the Costa Blanca Cup Futsal, a total of 97 teams participated, representing eleven countries. Up to 38 foreign teams competed at the different venues in the Marina Alta and Baja regions, including 37 Spanish teams (specifically from outside the Valencian Community), and 22 Valencian teams. Historically, the CBC Futsal has seen the participation of 1,050 teams from 25 different countries over the course of 20 years.
On an international level, the return of Brazil, a powerhouse in the futsal world, after several years, was notable. From Europe, teams from France, Spain, England, and Belgium were prominent. For the first time in futsal, the United States participated. Additionally, there were teams from Taiwan, Lebanon, and Venezuela.
The international grassroots tournament will take place from July 7th to 12th, with 208 teams representing up to 19 countries. While there will be a notable local presence, with 51 teams, the actual number of clubs from outside the Valencian region is even: there will be 80 teams from the rest of Spain and 77 from abroad. Internationally, the consolidation of participation by teams from two regions of the world is important. On the one hand, the Middle East with Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. On the other, the Caribbean, with the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico with ten teams. China returns after several years of absence, as do Brazil and Taiwan, which have doubled participation in both soccer and futsal. Iceland, a country of barely 300,000 inhabitants and with very few federation members, has competed in 21 of the 31 editions of the Costa Blanca Cup. The United States' presence is also growing.
