The 20th anniversary of the Costa Blanca Cup Futsal kicks off with the inauguration of a week of action on the court.
The international indoor soccer tournament held its welcome party for the 97 participating teams representing eleven countries.
The Costa Blanca Cup Futsal will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the international grassroots futsal tournament in 2025, taking place from Wednesday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 6th, with the finals. And the curtain rose this Wednesday with the traditional and spectacular opening ceremony, welcoming the 97 participating teams, representing a total of eleven countries.
The Benidorm Palace was the setting where the tournament organizers, Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas, welcomed the players, coaches, and supporters of all the teams that will compete on the courts at the venues in Benidorm, Calpe, Altea, Villajoyosa, and Alfaz del Pi. In the festival hall of the city of tourism par excellence, the event began with the traditional parade and team presentation. The night picked up pace with a dance performance by the group Boogie Block. The opening ceremony continued with the presenter explaining some of the details that make this tournament a benchmark for the sport in Spain, highlighting, for example, the official app, which allows participants, families, and friends to follow the championship's progress. The second show of the evening was followed by a magic act by David Climent, followed by the presentation of the trophies that the competing teams wish to claim. The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, gave a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony: “The Costa Blanca Cup Futsal celebrates 20 years of celebrating futsal; 20 years of bringing together clubs, young athletes, families, and futsal fans; 20 years of building community; 20 years of promoting values such as sportsmanship, fair play, inclusion, camaraderie, teamwork, and empathy. So, first of all, congratulations to the Costa Blanca Cup for establishing itself as the leading national tournament and a benchmark at the European level, and for achieving the challenge it had set for itself on this 20th anniversary: holding the most international edition in its history.” “And you have made this possible, you, the 97 teams from 11 countries participating in this tournament, demonstrating that sport, in this case futsal, is universal, transcends borders, and speaks a single language. To all of you, wherever you come from, we wish you the best of luck, that you enjoy and make the most of these five days of futsal, and that the competition brings you many joys and lessons. Benidorm and the other tournament venues are going to do our best to ensure you have a unique experience: magnificent days of football, but also of fun and leisure time with your teammates, coaches, and families,” he emphasized before the opening ceremony concluded with the family photo.
