Lights, camera, action for the start of the Costa Blanca Cup 2026 futsal tournament
The curtain rose on the Costa Blanca Cup futsal tournament, organized by Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas. The opening ceremony took place a little away from the courts, on the stage of the Benidorm Palace's ballroom. This futsal championship reaches its 21st edition in 2026. And what better way to start than with a warm welcome for both the Spanish and international teams, as a cornerstone of this youth sports event is its international character, which fosters cultural exchange through sport and the sharing of experiences.
A particularly special moment was the reception of the Venezuelan delegation, with applause from the entire audience, followed by a very moving minute of silence in support and condolences for the tragedy caused by the earthquakes in Venezuela.
The 2026 Costa Blanca Cup Futsal will feature a total of 113 teams (57 international and 56 Spanish) from nine countries: France, England, Ireland, and Spain from Europe; Canada, Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela from the Americas; and Australia from Oceania. This number adds to the 206 teams that will enter the competition a week later in the football tournament (117 foreign teams and 89 from Spain).
For Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas, a particularly important aspect of the sporting events it organizes is the warm welcome extended to all participating teams, including players, coaching staff, and their companions. This is reflected in the opening ceremonies, which become unforgettable moments with the parade of each team's representatives, performances, and speeches.
Lights, camera, action! The tournament begins with the group stage in their respective categories this Thursday, July 2nd, and continues until the finals on Sunday, July 5th.
As mentioned, it all kicked off with the CBC Futsal Opening at the Benidorm Palace. Welcome to the expeditions and thanks to the public institutions of the towns hosting the matches of this international youth futsal tournament: Benidorm, Calpe, Altea, Villajoyosa, and Alfaz del Pi. Each municipality was officially represented.
The official welcome was given by Toni Pérez, Mayor of Benidorm: “We are at a tournament that has been growing for 21 editions and that embodies the values of sport, values that are also essential for life. It is a tournament that reaches every corner of the planet. We wish all the teams a wonderful few days of sport and experiences. I want to give a special mention to the teams coming from Venezuela, to whom we send a big hug.” “Benidorm is your home. We hope this tournament continues in the future, and we will always welcome you with open arms and a smile,” he concluded, addressing all the participating teams, coaching staff, and accompanying persons.
The Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony began shortly after 9:30 p.m. The first event was the parade of the teams, represented by their captains. Following this, and before continuing the tournament's opening gala, the organizers, Tour-Sport Promociones Deportivas, observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the victims of the earthquakes in Venezuela, the country being represented in this tournament with the Venezuela Futsal Cup. The opening ceremony continued with a dance performance by the Ballet Boogie Block group. Afterward, the official tournament jersey was unveiled, followed by a performance of Carmina Burana. Then came the official welcome address by Toni Pérez, the mayor of Benidorm, whose words are quoted above. Fernando Brotons, co-director of the tournament, presented a jersey to the mayor. After thanking the public and private sponsors, the evening also featured a touch of magic with a performance by magician David Climent, marking the closing of the Costa Blanca Cup Futsal 2026 opening ceremony.
